5/8/12-introduction
Foreshadowing
has been a common element in literature throughout the years of
writing. In the novel Of Mice and Men John Steinbeck shows many
excellent examples of foreshadowing throughout the book. Carleson
killing Candy’s dog, a heron eating the snake, and Lennie grabbing onto a
ladies dress and panicking are all good examples of foreshadowing the
pivotal events of the book Of Mice and Men. This effect makes the tone
of the book dark and ominous.
